Branding

Water Wise & Sewer Savvy sub-branding

Water Wise & Sewer Savvy Logo

Envisioned and implemented the Water Wise & Sewer Savvy sub-brand for the City of Kyle’s Public Works Department in concert with the then Water Treatment Operations Manager. This endeavor was launched in 2016 to help educate Kyle residents/customers about all things water: water quality, water conservation, wastewater.

The sub-branding effort has its own logo that incorporates the city name and uses a similar color palette. Under this ongoing campaign, public outreach and information is shared via myriad avenues available, including webpages, the weekly e-News, social media and the KYLE 10 channel.

If customers become Water Wise & Sewer Savvy, they are more likely to know where to turn for updates and information, more likely to conserve water and more likely to share information with their neighbors and friends.

‘I Am Team Kyle’ video series

Working with the city’s Human Resources Department, I developed the ‘I Am Team Kyle’ video series. The purpose of the videos is to establish a human face of employees and serve as a recruitment tool for prospective employees.

Team members from various sectors of the city are selected to be interviewed and be filmed during their normal work day in their regular work environment. In the videos, employees talk about what it’s like to be part of Team Kyle and what it means to them personally. The videos are never scripted, allowing the authentic voice of the person being interviewed to shine through.

Pie Capital of Texas Branding

Played a lead role in developing the branding initiative for the City of Kyle’s Pie Capital of Texas brand. The brand goal was to create an identity for the city that revolved around a love of all things pie. Additionally, the brand was meant to galvanize the local community and business owners, as well as entice visitors to come to town.

Wrote all copy for news releases, website, social media posts, newsletter, etc.

CertiPIEd video series

Under the City of Kyle’s Pie Capital of Texas brand, I developed a series of videos for businesses that are inducted into the CertiPIEd branding program. Businesses become CertiPIEd by incorporating the Pie Capital brand into their own marketing. Through their creativity, owners have developed a variety of ideas to become CertiPIEd including branded swag, giving away pies and even developing pie charts for their clients.

The videos are fun and celebratory. They convey the excitement of being part of the CertiPIEd group of businesses, but more importantly, they help forward the Pie Capital brand. I’ve created more than 40 videos in two years, which means more than 40 businesses have joined onto the brand. A few samples are below.

Barton Financial Group

As a freelance meeting facilitator and moderator (through an agreement with Screamer Co.), assisted Travis County’s Central Health in uncovering its branding opportunities. By conducting a semi-structured brainstorming session, I was able to elicit insights from participants about the current brand and where stakeholders wanted to take the brand in the future.
